Ultimate Bet ReviewUltimate Bet is one of the oldest online poker rooms of its size and caliber, but unfortunately the site is probably best known for its 2006 cheating scandal. In an effort to shake a bad reputation that's no longer deserved, in 2010 the poker room was revamped and rebranded; the end result is UB.com. The Look If you're coming to poker from the world of over-the-top online casinos, then UB's design may seem underwhelming, but we think it's perfect for those long grinding sessions. What few graphics there are are impeccably done, and the actions and hand speed (when they're not held up by the players themselves) are far faster than the real thing. The Software UB is using the same proprietary CEREUS Network software that first lifted Ultimate Bet out of the trenches of mediocrity a couple years ago. Only UB and its sister site Absolute have access to the CEREUS software, and it's good stuff. Unfortunately for Mac users, UB still doesn't offer a flash version of their poker room, but all the other players should be pleased to see that the somewhat hefty package loads completely within a minute. We've never experienced a single glitch at the new UB tables, even with aggressive multi-tabling. And the newest upgrade definitely allows for aggressive multi-tabling since you can now play an unlimited number of tables. To keep those many active tables in check, players can manually resize them or use either the tiling or cascading presets. And so you don't have to click through every window when time is short, when the action hits your seat at any table it will pop up to the top of the pile. UB also takes a page from the major live tournaments by now offering a rabbit cam. The Games For game variety it honestly doesn't get any better than Ultimate Bet. In addition to dozens of active Texas Hold'em tables with stakes ranging from the lowest of the low to the highest of the high, they also offer Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Stud, Stud Hi-Lo, Razz, Triple Draw, HA, SHOE, HORSE and Crazy Pineapple tables. There's not a whole lot of variety represented by Ultimate Bet's tournament line-up, but they've got a large one nonetheless. It includes the usual SNGs and MTTs plus a nice selection of satellites, bounties and freerolls. The buy-ins range from $1 to $1000 and occasionally go higher for direct buy-ins to major satellites. The Players During peak hours, UB might draw anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000+ cash players. While you'd think that would translate to plenty of fish, UB's tables are surprisingly tight, especially at the middling and high stakes. You really can and will compete against some pros, plus UB has a large contingent of skilled amateurs. The Promotions UB currently has one of the largest online poker room deposit bonuses. They're offering a 111% first deposit match good for up to $1100 in bonus cash. While the money isn't cashable – even once it's earned – you can play it any way you choose. They also offer a generous 100% reload bonus good for an additional $250. They've got in-play promotions like a bad beat and a royal flush jackpot, are the only room that offers the infamous Seven Deuce tables, plus they host plenty of double and triple RAI$E point events. They also offer a multitude of low buy-in satellites to some of the biggest and best live tournaments. The Help The new UB.com site offers an extensive FAQ section that is available in five different languages, but if you've got a bigger problem you might have to wait up to 48 hours for service since they only offer email assistance.
