Full Tilt Poker Review

Full Tilt Poker is without a doubt one of the most recognizable online poker rooms in the world, thanks in large part to its pervasive marketing campaign. Full Tilt took online poker to a whole new level of cool by turning poker players into celebrities and then leveraging that celebrity power by using their pros in their commercials. Today, practically every major online poker room has their own stable of pros, but none compare to the formidable Full Tilt team which logs more than 1600 hours at the room's tables every week. Gimmicks aside, Full Tilt is still one of the best poker rooms in existence; read on to find out why.

The Look

The look and feel of Full Tilt Poker reflects the site's insight into player mentality. By that we mean that while their graphics are modern and super sharp they're never distracting, and while the design of both the site and the tables is attractive and memorable it's also easy on the eyes – which is important if you're going to be looking at those card graphics for a few hours at a time. The lobby is expansive but loads lightning fast and is surprisingly easy to navigate thanks to ample filtering options, color coding and three different lobby views.

The Software

Full Tilt Poker uses its own proprietary software. That means that if you like what you're seeing here then you might as well get comfortable because it's not available anywhere else. The fact that a number of Full Tilt's pros have had a hand in designing said software is self-evident – everything from the look and feel to the speed and available player features reflects a serious player's wants and needs.

In addition to must-have player options like personal stats, opponent notes and hand history, the current version of Full Tilt Poker's software also supports multi-tabling to an awesome degree – up to 18 tables at once with a resizing option that allows you to view 9 simultaneously without overlap. They've also recently added some less common features like hand replay, Rush Poker (which shifts you to a new table with every hand you play), widgets and a customizable ring game table finder.

The Games

Unlike some of the other major poker rooms which focus specifically on poker's biggest cash cow – Texas Hold'em – Full Tilt Poker has one of the best game selections by far. If Hold'em's not your poison, you can also try a hand of Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, Stud Hi-Lo, Razz, HOSE and HORSE. There one of only a handful of sites that actually offer regular stud tournaments, plus they've also got that nifty new Rush Poker feature for both their ring games and their tournaments.

Speaking of tournaments, while Full Tilt performs solidly in every area their tournaments are where they really shine. The site awards several million dollars every week via their guaranteeds and has buy-ins ranging from $1 up to tens of thousands of dollars for major events. They also have a dizzying variety of tournament formats; hundreds of Rush Poker, cashout, shootout, knockout bounty, rebuy, turbo, freeroll and double stack tournaments are scheduled daily.

The Players

While Full Tilt Poker is known for its roster of active pros, there aren't so many pros at their tables that profiting is impossible. However, as a more established room with a reputation for attracting serious players, the competition at Full Tilt isn't as soft as what you'll find at a smaller or less distinguished site.

The Promotions

Most of Full Tilt's promotional power is focused on major events. That means there are plenty of opportunities to grind your way into a seat at a major live tournament, but there isn't a lot of free cash for bonus hunters. Still, the site offers a generous first deposit match of 100% good for up to $600 plus a number of depositor freerolls.

The Help

The Full Tilt Poker site does everything in its power to ensure that its players are well-informed, and if you experience a common problem there's a good chance you'll find an answer on their FAQ page. That said, our largest disappointment at Full Tilt was their customer support service which is only available by email (albeit 16 different emails).
