Absolute Poker Review

Like its sister site, UB, Absolute Poker recently underwent a complete makeover, and it shows in every aspect of this poker room. In just two years the CEREUS Network has taken Absolute Poker from lukewarm to red hot. The whole site is easy on the eyes and even easier to use. Newbs will like player-conscious features like their rabbit cams and four-color decks while more serious players will appreciate their unlimited multi-tabling feature and expanded betting options.

The Look

Absolute Poker runs on the same platform as UB, and yet the look and feel of Absolute is distinctly different. While the site itself is somewhat simplistic, the Absolute Poker lobby and tables are not only player-oriented, they're downright hip. Absolute's branding is everywhere, but we're down with that. The cool blue color scheme is a welcome change from the been there done that green and red or black and gold that are favored by so many other poker rooms. While we'd prefer crisper card graphics when the tables are minimized for multi-tabling, the graphics are otherwise sleek and attractive.

The Software

As we previously mentioned, Absolute Poker runs on the CEREUS Network platform that it shares with UB. It's a genuinely solid package with few (if any) weaknesses. Not only does the software download and install fast, the lobby and games also load fast and error-free every time. Even better, Mac and Linux users that do their homework will find a link to flash version of Absolute on their website.

The Absolute Poker software gives players a whole bevy of in-game options from standards like hand history, player stats and opponent notes to nice extras like rabbit cams, resizable tables and four-color decks which are especially useful for multi-tablers. There are a handful of table and lobby view options, a movable chat window, and extra in-play features like pot and half pot bets.

The Games

Absolute Poker is slightly above average when it comes to their selection of games. They offer Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Stud, Stud Hi-Lo and Razz, but they don't currently offer any mixed games. On top of the usual FL/NL/PL formats, players can also choose turbo or heads-up tables. Their stakes spread currently ranges from $.02/$.04 to $200/$400.

As always, Absolute Poker continues to perform well in terms of tourneys. Budget players will appreciate their many freerolls and their generous steps programs, while more ambitious players should be happy to hear that the site gives away more than half a million in guaranteeds every weekend.

The People

During peak hours, Absolute Poker attracts around 20,000 cash players. A majority of those players are filling their tournament seats, though there are more than enough ring game players to keep the action constant in Texas Hold'em with some overflow into Omaha and even Stud (on weekends). The skill level here is about average. That means that you'll see the loosest action in the lower stakes, but you'll really have to sweat it out to get a decent cash in the big tourneys.

The Promotions

Absolute Poker is currently offering a hefty sign-on bonus – a whopping 150% deposit match worth up to $500. They offer two of the largest bad beat and royal flush jackpots in the industry, and they're one of the best sites for satellite chasers that don't want to grind their way through a field of 5,000. Their VIP Club, called FAME, is a good value even for casual players, and that's before you add in all the double point events.

The Help

Absolute Poker's site-based support center is thorough to say the least, but players that need human assistance will have to rely on the room's email service.
